Paytm number screening
India's mass-market payment wallet, where the mobile number is the account itself and most street-level merchant QR codes run on it.
Coverage
- India
Paytm started with mobile top-ups and scaled on the QR-payment wave that followed India's 2016 demonetisation. Its codes now sit on kirana counters, fuel pumps and vegetable stalls — and it serves Indian numbers only.
Platform characteristics
- Sign-up and login run entirely on OTP to an Indian mobile number — there is no email-first path, so changing the number effectively means a new account.
- No public profile page, no searchable UID or username; details are visible only to the other side of a transaction.
- Merchant accounts are a separate layer: a Paytm for Business QR is tied to the shop owner's number, so one number can be both consumer and micro-merchant.
- Wallet, UPI transfers and recharges all sit under the same phone identity, and activity shows up as transactions rather than posts.

What screening solves here
For e-commerce, acquiring, recharge or fintech work in India, Paytm registration roughly separates numbers that already do KYC-verified mobile payments from those still living on cash. Pitching payment products to the second group is mostly wasted spend.
FAQ
How do I bulk check whether Indian numbers are registered on Paytm?
Upload the list with the 91 country code in E.164 form and run Paytm account-registration screening. NexCheck returns a registered / not-registered result per number. That status is the whole output — no balance, KYC tier or linked-card data is involved.
Can Paytm screening show a person's name or bank card?
No. The only Paytm result NexCheck provides is whether an account exists on that number. Names, UPI handles, linked cards and transaction history are outside the scope — that kind of data can only come through channels the user themselves authorises.
Is an Indian number worthless if it has no Paytm account?
Not necessarily — PhonePe and Google Pay take a large share of India's UPI traffic, so no Paytm account doesn't mean no mobile payments. But if your product lives inside the Paytm ecosystem — acquiring, merchant lending, recharge rebates — deprioritising those numbers makes sense.
