US numbers run 10 digits under the North American Numbering Plan: a 3-digit area code (first digit 2-9) plus a 7-digit subscriber number. Nothing in the prefix marks a line as wireless — the same area codes carry both mobile and fixed lines.

Ten domestically — a three-digit area code plus a seven-digit subscriber number — or eleven with the +1 country code. The area code never starts with 0 or 1. Mobile and landline numbers are the same length and drawn from the same ranges, so digit count tells you nothing about line type.
Is a +1 number American or Canadian?
+1 is shared across the North American Numbering Plan — the US, Canada and several Caribbean countries and territories — so the country code alone cannot separate them. The three-digit area code can: 416, 604 and 514 are Canadian, 212, 310 and 312 are American. Bulk data has to be assigned by area code.
